Mission
To address the concerns of students across the campus and to encourage academic discourse in a casual setting. Our peer writing consultants are trained to help writers at any stage of the writing process, including prewriting, drafting, revising, and editing. Consultants are also prepared to assist students with various writing genres and documentation styles.
What Does the Writing Center Offer?
- Assistance with any writing task, at any stage of the writing process
- Private appointments with trained consultants
- Computers to work on drafts with Internet and printer access
- A quiet, yet stimulating enviornment
Preparing for an Appointment
- Bring all assignment sheets, instructions, and class notes related to the assignment.
- Type and double space drafts to be reviews by consultants. Any pre-writing materials or outlines should be typed or neatly printed.
- Complete any corrections and revisions suggested by your instructor before your appointment.
Our Policies
- If possible, make an appointment well in advance of the the due date of your assignment
- Please be on time for your appointment. If you are more than 10 minutes late, you will be asked to reschedule.
- Walk-ins are welcome! If a consultant is not available you may wait for 10 minutes before being asked to schedule an appointment for a later time.
- Cell phones must be set to vibrate. Music players must be set to low volumes. Noisy distractions of any nature should be avoided.
- A general lack of respect or courtesy may cause you to be escorted from The Writing Center.
- Foor and drinks are not permitted.
